IN Accrington last week, we all listened to the excuses of our new owners Leoni (formerly Lucas Rists) as to why they have to close the site.

In our opinion the only reason to ship our jobs to Romania is profit.

We hold the contract to supply Land Rover until 2002. The price they pay will at no time change and by moving to cheap labour countries, the Leoni company will make massive profits at our expense.

Less than four months ago when they bought us, they told us what high hopes they had for the site. Since then, all we have seen is Leoni stripping the site of jobs.

The workforce feels that enough is enough. We will not lie down and die and watch Accrington die with it. We will fight for our factory and the town.

We wish everyone in Accrington and elsewhere to help us in our cause. We are asking you to give us your support in any way possible.

Letters can be sent to Tony Blair, Greg Pope or anyone you think can help us. Rallies and petitions are now being organised in the town and all your support will be greatly appreciated. Please don't let us and the town down. We need you all.
