GRAEME Souness insists there are no outcasts at Rovers -- despite telling a handful of players they are free to go.

The Blackburn boss started moves to re-shape his squad over the summer by telling Nathan Blake, Per Frandsen, Keith Gillespie, Billy McKinlay and Darren Peacock that they can move on if the price is right.

And Callum Davidson also looks as though he may be surplus to requirements following the signing of Stig Inge Bjornebye.

However, there have been no takers so far as the six returned for the start of pre-season training yesterday.

And Souness insisted he was happy to have them back while they remain on the Ewood books.

"Everyone one of them are Blackburn players. Until someone comes in for them that doesn't change.

"Everyone has to be fit, whether they are going to be Blackburn players or not," he said. And asked whether any of the players could force a re-think with an impressive pre-season programme, Souness replied: "Anything's possible." However, it would seem unlikely that Souness will take any of the five on the trip to Germany next Monday, which ends with back-to-back games against Bahlinger SC and FC 04 Rastatt on Friday and Saturday week.

However, Matt Jansen can be expected to go even though he's facing a club punishment for breaking a curfew during England's under-21 European Championship campaign which landed the striker a three-match international ban.

"I will be dealing with that," said Souness, who insisted that Jansen remains an integral part of his plans.

Souness was pleased with day one of the build-up to the new season with everyone coming through unscathed, bar a few aching limbs.

"They worked hard and they'll probably be a bit stiff today but that's no bad thing," said the boss, who will be upping the tempo as the week goes on to put some strength in the legs ready for the battles to come.

Avoiding muscle injuries will also be key and on the fitness front full-back Jeff Kenna made a pleasing return yesterday after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with an Achilles tendon injury.

"He got through it all okay and I expect him to be fitter than anyone today," added Souness.
