A WOMAN in debt stole toothpaste and music cassettes from a shop, but felt guilty the moment she had done it.
Burnley magistrates heard how Karen Elizabeth Cahill, 33, hid the items, paid for some others and left the store.
Cahill, of Norway House, Spring Close, Colne, admitted theft and was conditionally discharged for 12 months, with £65 costs.
Mark Williams, defending, said Cahill very much regretted what she had done and could not give any explanation.
She had had a lot of problems in her life, such as personal and financial difficulties, and was in debt with all the services.
Her telephone had been cut off and things had been getting on top of her.
The offence was wholly out of character and Cahill felt guilty the moment she had done it.
She was now seeking help with her problems.
