TWO thugs attacked a 37-year-old Bury man in a subway and stole £130 from his wallet.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the robbery which happened at the underpass linking Jubilee Way and Irwell Street.

The man was walking through the subway when he was suddenly grabbed from behind by two men.

They put their hands round his throat, pushed him into a wall and took his wallet.

After removing the cash, they discarded the wallet and escaped on foot.

One of the thugs was 5ft 10ins, of stocky build with long brown scruffy hair and unshaven. He smelled strongly of sweat and was wearing a knee-length black jacket, jeans and scruffy trainers.

His accomplice was 5ft 8ins in height, slim build with short brown scruffy hair, unshaven and he also smelled of sweat. He wore a dark bomber-style jacket and jeans.
