CLOCKWATCHING will never be the same again for residents in Fensicowles after the completion of an unusual project to mark the Millennium.

A human sundial has been created in Park Farm, which, until five years ago, was just a mass of brambles and weeds.

The latest addition to the rediscovered park was completed at the weekend and, although the sundial is a time-keeping object devised hundreds of years ago, this new one has been designed to be totally vandal proof!

Sandy Woods, from the Park Farm Community Project, said: "If we had created a proper sundial in the ground, we would have had to place a large needle in the middle.

"It goes without saying that the needle would have been ripped up within days.

"So instead, humans can stand in the middle and the shadow they cast will tell the time."

The first time check was at 3pm on Sunday and locals are now eagerly waiting for another sunny day to give the sundial another go!
