RISING road deaths prompted a "slow down" plea from a police chief.
Inspector David Threlfall, of the Pennine division, which covers Burnley, Pendle and the Ribble Valley, said: "In the division in the first six months of the year, we have had 11 death crashes. Six of them are attributable to speed."
