A fact-finding tour of newspaper production was just part of their Newspapers in Education project for a class of Blackburn pupils.
Children in years five and six at Daisyfield Primary School have been using our Super Story Search literacy material, along with deliveries of our newspaper to help boost reading and writing skills, while our Maths Motivation material has formed part of a family numeracy scheme for other pupils and parents.
The offer of a free tour of our head office and printing plant was eagerly accepted by teacher David Barrett and his class, as a chance to learn more about business and technology and to prepare for the production of their own school news-sheet.
Most pupils voted the sight of the presses rolling as their favourite part of the visit, along with the large numbers of computer screens in use.
