HAVE you placed your school order for our superb free resources for schools, available only through our NIE department, to schools within our circulation area?

Don't forget the deadline for orders is Friday to claim our one-off offer of free Literacy Resource for KS1 and KS2 or our free English/Media Resource for KS3 and KS4.

And an invitation to a choice of free inset days in the autumn term, only for schools ordering the resources, will give teachers an insight into the newspaper industry.

To ensure their school pack of either resource, teachers must use the order form, posted to all schools within our circulation area, for delivery of our newspaper for the week October 2-6, forming an integral part of both packs.

The primary school pack includes free lesson plans and worksheets, helping to fulfil newspaper linked requirements of the National Literacy Strategy for the autumn term.

The resource for secondary schools comprises a class set of our free 12-page supplement showing how to produce news and sports reports, features and advertisements, along with editing and sub-editing know-how, plus "real life" journalistic assignments, enabling students to produce a single report or their own newspaper.

Both brand new resources are being designed and written by teachers from East Lancashire schools, working on short placements with us, through the Teacher Placement Service.
