POLICE say they have had tremendous public support for Burnley's new action areas aimed at combating crime and disorder in the community.
Four districts of town -- the Burnley Lane area of Daneshouse, Brunshaw, Burnley Wood and Leyland Road -- are the first community action areas in a new initiative spearheaded by police, the council and other agencies.
The first action group meeting will take place tonight in Burnley Lane at 7pm in the Burnley Works Sports and Social Club, Abel Street.
Members of the public, local councillors, police, housing, council and mediation service representatives will be there to discuss how they can help reduce crime and disorder by working together more effectively.
Crime, problem families, litter, anti-social behaviour, drunkenness and noise nuisance are all on the agenda.
