A BODY found on the moors above Trawden has been identified as that of missing Burnley man Colin Patchett.

A post mortem examination suggested there were no suspicious circ- umstances, said Det Insp Steve Brunskill.

The badly dec- omposed body was found in a remote and isolated area high on the moors about two miles from Coldwell reservoir on Tuesday.

A report has gone to East Lancashire Coroner David Smith and an inquest will be held.

The remains were found in a boggy area at the top of the moors outside the area previously combed by police and search- and-rescue teams looking for Mr Pat- chett. The body was found by a farmer looking for his sheep.

Former milkman Colin Patchett went missing in November 1997.

He was last seen by his wife, Doreen, when he left their home in Marsden Road, Burnley, to return to the hospital, where he was a patient.

He only had £2 with him to make phone calls home from the ward.

Mr and Mrs Patchett used to run a milk round in the Lanehead and Brunshaw areas of Burnley.

Mr Patchett is also a former captain of Nelson Golf Club.

He latterly worked in security.

The couple had been married for 28 years and have a son, David.
