TWO local athletes have conquered the Bob Graham Round, a seventy two mile tour of the Lake District which involves climbing 27,000 feet to reach 42 peaks.
To be successful it has to be accomplished in 24 hours.
Jane Grundy who has been a member of Accrington Road Runners for five years reached her goal three weeks ago when she set a time of 23 hours 30 minutes, and Julian Donnelly the Chairman of Darwen Dashers joined the exclusive band on the 24th June taking just 22 hours and 11 minutes.
Julian ran out of time on his first attempt last year when poor weather hampered his progress.
Lance Corporal Nikki Dean of Blackburn Harriers is the Army's 5000m champion. Nikki, who is in the training regiment at Arborfield near Reading logged 18:51 in the Championships at Aldershot.
