GIGG LANE, home of Bury FC and Swinton RL, will be receiving maximum coverage on Saturday July 29 as the Northern Ford Premiership Rugby League Grand Final is beamed around the North of England into hundreds of thousands of homes.
Yorkshire Television, in association with Granada, will be televising the final live, and the Rugby League, along with representatives from Northern Ford, are hoping for a 12,000 capacity crowd to pack into Gigg Lane for the occasion.
"We have been anxious to bring the final to Gigg Lane for some time," said Steve Russell, of Northern Ford. "The facilities at Bury are excellent, the ground is crying out for an event like this.
"It's important that we aim for a capacity attendance because of the TV and other coverage the final will receive.
"The final will be going out all over the Granada, Yorkshire and Lincolnshire regions and it is important that we put on a show," added Mr Russell.
The eight combatants hoping to win those precious last two places at Gigg on July 29 -- Dewsbury, Keighley, Featherstone, Doncaster, Leigh, Oldham, Hull KR and Widnes -- start their bid for the final this weekend -- and there will be highlights of the games leading up to the final in special magazine programmes.
