LAST Monday evening, Bolton Road found their Bury Ladies Rounders League championship charge temporarily halted as their game against Ramsbottom Ladies was postponed until Wednesday.

Fishpool A took advantage of their inactivity, claiming both points with an innings victory from Radcliffe CC.

Elsewhere Ainsworth A picked up two points with a win over Fishpool B, and Redvales Rovers managed only their second win of the campaign (203-157) against Bolton Road B.

Two issues were settled in Division Two last week, firstly, St Mary's were crowned as champions after their innings victory from Bury Felt B were finally confirmed as relegated after a further defeat by their own A team.

The chase for second spot still involves no less than five teams. Bury Felt A and Bury Bury West are currently on 14 points, Tottington A despite a loss last week are on 13, Warth A now have 12 and Ron Woods with 11 still have an outside chance.

St Mary's B are not yet relegated, but must take a maximum four points from their last two games and even then rely on Ron Woods or Warth losing both of theirs.

In Division Three on Tuesday, the current top three, Redvales Ladies, Colourcare A and Brocks Xl A, all had further wins, to leave the top "as it was".

At the other end of the table, four teams are still fighting relegation, the Duck Club were the only one of the four to do themselves any favours last week with a narrow (164-152) victory from Kings Xl A.

In Division Four, leaders Bury East A finally earned their promotion with a devastating fielding performance against Tottington A. Warth B took advantage to join them in the higher tier next season after completely overwhelming the unfortunate Brocks Xl B. Brocks themselves are just one of four teams still hoping to avoid 'the drop', although their position is not as precarious as that of Elton Youth who now find themselves 'teetering on the brink'.

Promotion issues are now settled in Division Five, Greenmounts innings victory over Duke William means that they will join Swan Ladies in four next season.

At the foot of the table, once again we have four teams fighting to avoid relegation, Duke William, Magpies and St Annes all last and remain with six points each. Exodus, currently on eight points, could yet be dragged amongst them.

Unusually for a Wednesday night, attention was partly focused on Division One as Bolton Road A faced Ramsbottom Ladies. The match proved to be rather one sided as Bolton Road reclaimed their two points advantage at the top.

In Division Six, further wins for MSS United and St Mary's C sees them both promoted, though the two must wait to see just which of them will be champions.

Two vital points were played at the top of Division Seven, and our top two, of the Dandler and PJ Power emerged victorious over Tottington Juniors and Deardens.

The two now both require just one further point to assure a Division Six start next season, however, as with the previous Division, our leaders are still locked together as yet another possible 'play-off' looms on the horizon.

Things are less obvious at the foot of the table were three teams are still battling to avoid the one remaining relegation spot.

Congratulations to Bury Rangers, who now have twelve wins from twelve and gain promotion at the first attempt. A surprise defeat for All Saints B (169-115), at the hands of Radcliffe Borough B almost certainly hands second spot to Colourcare B, who played out a marathon game (322-275) against Limefield Juniors.

Thursday night saw the last of our eight match series against Bolton, this final game was the second leg for the veterans (over 45's).

Bury had made several changes of personnel from the first leg and throughout the first innings they more than held their own with both bat and ball. Half-time: Bury 56, Bolton 54.

Bury went back into bat and again looked fairly good, unfortunately, mid-way through, we lost four girls in quick succession, which certainly cost us confidence as well as some extra points.

Bolton started well and some early mistakes in the Bury camp made the job that bit easier for Bolton to claim their seventh victory of the series. The 'players player' was Sue Alexander. Bury 111, Bolton 162.

Sunday saw a millennium inter-league game with a difference at Darcy Lever, that resulted in a win for Bolton.

August 6, is our gala day, Teams should be at Seedfield for 10.30am.
