A FIFTY-year-old man was viciously attacked and stabbed as he walked along New Hall Lane, Preston.

The man was chased for a short distance before being grabbed by the attacker at around 8.45pm on Saturday, July 29.

The victim was then punched in the face and knocked to the ground ,where he was repeatedly kicked and punched before being stabbed in the hand with a sharp implement.

The assailant then walked off towards the phone box he had been using before the attack.

He is described as being a white male, 20 to 22 years old, average build, clean shaven, with fair hair in a skinhead and wearing blue denim trousers and jacket.

Staff at Preston's Capitol Centre, Walton-Le-Dale, tried to stop two youths from stealing a Yamaha Moped.

The black "R" registered bike was locked up outside the Virgin Active store at around 4.30pm on Monday, July 24, when a couple of youngsters carried it across the car park to the back of the premises.

They were then disturbed by staff and ran off but when the workers returned from calling the police, the bike had gone.

The youngsters were seen heading towards the River Ribble with the moped, which was later recovered on Friday July 28 on Oxford Street, Preston. One of the thieves is described as being a white male, 15 years old, 5ft 4ins, with mousy coloured hair, a scar on his neck near his adam's apple and wearing a beige top and jogging bottoms. He spoke with a local accent.

The other one is described as a white male, 15 years old, 5ft 6ins. This one wore black Adidas bottoms, a red top and a baseball cap.

Three males were seen smashing a window of a blue "B" registered Volkswagen Polo, which was parked on Leagram Crescent, Ribbleton, at around 11.30pm on Friday July 28. One of the assailants was on a bike, the other two were walking and all were wearing light coloured clothing.

A Reliant Robin was tipped over onto its side for the second time as it was parked outside a retirement complex on Hanover Court, Ingol. The incident happened at around 10.30pm on Sunday, July 30

A man was threatened and a garden chair put through his lounge window in the early hours of Monday, July 31.

A man and a woman knocked on the door of the victim's terraced house on New Rough Hey, Ingol, and shouted threats.

The man is described as being white, 30 to 45 years old, of medium build, 5ft 10ins tall with a bald or shaved head

His female accomplice is described as being 30 years old, slim, with short bobbed blonde hair and wearing a purple casual jacket with light coloured trousers.
