THREE weekends of summer fun and sizzling rugby get underway tomorrow when the 20th Carlsberg Tetley The draw has thrown up some mouth-watering ties at Twist Lane between eight of the best amateur teams in the country.

Arguably the match of the round kicks off the competition at 1.30pm when holders Leigh East take on Graeme West coached Wigan St Judes.

The Wigan side had the better of the Conference Division One clashes last season but the defending champions will be determined to hang onto the Grainey Trophy, their open style of play suited to the Miners' big pitch.

Thatto Heath Crusaders follow with a clash against Hensingham at 3pm. Thatto, newly promoted to the Conference, picked up three trophies last season, including the Lancashire Cup.

Their opponents were runners-up in the Cumbria League and National Cup semi-finalists.

On Sunday hosts and last year's beaten finalists Leigh Miners Rangers face a tie against outsiders Widnes Albion Bulls, kick off 1.30pm. The Bulls may be unfancied but last season they won the Widnes Cup and narrowly missed out on the NW Counties Division One title.

Wigan Rose Bridge, the Ken Gee Cup winners, take on Hunslet Warriors, the Yorkshire Cup holders in the following game.

Running alongside the main event will be the Hilton Cup for under 13s.

Wigan St Pat's are the defending champions and will be joined by Leigh East, Halton Hornets, Blackbrook, Orrell St James, Woolston, Ince St Williams and Miners Rangers.
