ANDREW Lamb offered drug deals on wheels to workers at a local factory -- but it was more like a pizza delivery service than a Mafia operation.

Blackburn magistrates heard that Lamb's world of illicit drugs was a million miles from the Mafia glamour world of red Ferraris, exotic locations and beautiful girls.

Instead, he delivered cannabis and amphetamine, driving his red scooter to a factory in Goose House Lane, Darwen.

Lamb, 29, of Olive Lane, Darwen, pleaded guilty to supplying amphetamine, attempting to supply amphetamine and possession of cannabis. The magistrates adjourned the case until August 25 for the preparation of pre-sentence reports.

Neil Standage, prosecuting, said that as part of a planned operation, police were waiting at the car park of CGI in Goose House Lane. They swooped as Lamb was dealing a wrap of amphetamine and he was caught with a £5 note in his hand.

Daniel King, defending, said the offence was very much at the bottom end of the scale. "This is a man with no previous convictions who quite simply did not realise the seriousness of what he was doing," said Mr King.

"Sometimes drug dealing conjures up images of men driving a Ferrari Testarossa, wearing sunglasses, escorted by a bevy of beautiful girls and spending their time in exotic locations.

"What we have here is Andrew Lamb on his red scooter and he was caught red-handed," said Mr King. He said Lamb had originally sold cigarettes to people at the factory but spotted an opportunity when he discovered that some of the workers used drugs.

"The police got wind of his little venture and when he was arrested he fully admitted his role in this enterprise," said Mr King.
