ADVENTUROUS types are needed to try exhilarating whitewater rafting trips, tandem skydives, abseiling and much more to raise cash for the East Lancashire Hospice.

Individuals and teams of up to eight people can take part in the challenges for free by raising sponsorship cash.

If you've a head for heights and can raise at least £260, you can try a solo parachute jump from 3,000 feet.

But if you're no confident enough to make the jump on your own, why not try a tandem skydive from 10,000, while strapped to an instructor, at Lancaster airfield or 22 other airfields around Britain.

And if travelling through the air isn't your thing, what about sticking to water?

Waterbabies can learn how to run the rapids on whitewater rafting courses on the river Treweryn in Bala, North Wales, or on four other British rivers, by raising £600 for a team of at least six people.

And if that's not enough for you, there's a two-day outward bound challenge for teams of eight in the Lake District, North Wales or the Scottish Highlands.

By raising at least £2,800 in sponsorship, the teams can take on high rope courses, raft building and lots.

The money will go towards the hospice appeal to build a day care extension, which will double the size of the Park Lee building, Blackburn.
