A THIRD local club have given their support for the Europrint 10K Road Race at Witton Park promoted by Blackburn Road Runners.

Darwen Dashers have nominated the race to be the first in their President's Challenge mini series. The event which is on Sunday 20th August is already a championship race for both Accrington Road Runners and Rossendale Harriers. The Dashers will be presenting their own event the previous day on Saturday 19th August. It is the Darwen Gala Fell Race at Bold Venture Park. Both events incorporate a junior race.

HYNDBURN'S Neil Tattersall took third place in the Chorley 4M Night Race Series after finishing 12th in the final race. Class winners included Peter Dickenson of Chorley AC (junior), Evan Cook of Blackburn Harriers (M45) and Harry Lawton of Chorley AC (M60). Hayley Bullen of Hyndburn was the winning junior lady while Bernice Greenhalgh of West Pennine and Jan Mayor of Chorley AC topped the L40 and L45 standings. First local in the final race was Neil Faulkner of Chorley AC boosting his bid to win the Chorley Millennium GP.

ANDY Orr of Clayton won the Tour of Hameldon by exactly a minute from Accrington Road Runner Adrian Nicholls. Adrian was also Accrington's leading runner in the Weets Fell Race and both races count towards the club championship. Blackburn Road Runners Norma Smith (L50) and John Mitchell (M55) were age group winners in the Welcome Tavern 10K. Bernadette Carter of Chorley Harriers was first lady while the Clayton pair Andrew Taylor and John Wieczorek were 2nd and 3rd behind Wrekin's Paul Muller. Mark Brown also from Clayton was 7th in the Morecambe 10K recording a brisk 32:54, while Jim Taylor of Darwen Dashers set a PB in the Sale 10M. Nev Rickard in 13th and Blackburn Harrier Eric Wilson 15th both broke the one hour barrier.
