The Final word on Crewe
BIG MONEY MAN: Dave Walton: Centre back Dave Walton is Crewe's club record signing. Gradi paid £500,000, plus £200,000 based on appearances, to take him from Shrewsbury Town. But a groin injury is set to keep him out of the action against Rovers tomorrow.
LAST SIX RESULTS:
QPR (H) won 2-1
S Smith, Rivers
Stockport (h) won 3-2
Rivers 2, Lightfoot
Sheff United (a) drew 1-1
Little
Bolton (h) lost 3-1
Rivers
Barnsley (a) won 2-0
Sorvel, Hulse
Fulham (a) lost 2-0
LAST SEASON: Just escaped the drop finishing 19th
MANAGER: Dario Gradi: He has a job for life at Gresty Road. Officially the longest-serving manager in the football league after being appointed back in 1983! His record with Crewe has earned him many plaudits.
TOP SCORER: Mark Rivers and Colin Little: Both top-scored with nine last term. Little started life with Rossendale United before signing from Hyde United while Rivers is a product of the club's famous youth set-up.
Both line-up in attack again tomorrow
PREDICTED LINE-UP: Crewe usually play a 4-3-3 formation. Gradi has promised changes after last weekend's 2-0 reverse at Fulham but they are likely to be in personnel rather than formation as Alex stick to a 4-3-3.
ONE TO WATCH: Rodney Jack: Carribean striker Jack is full of tricks and has pace to burn. But after being away on international duty in midweek he may have to settle for a place on the bench.
On his day, however, he is one of Alex's genuine matchwinners
DID YOU KNOW?: Rovers had nearly 40 goal attempts against Alex last season at Ewood and still ended up losing 1-0.
The following week Graeme Souness was then appointed as the club's new manager
