REGARDING your advertisement for a reader holiday visit to the Millennium Dome (LET, September 9).

Knowing of the bad publicity surrounding it, I felt I would write as one who has actually been and, as a 69-year-old ex-commercial traveller who has travelled this country quite a bit.

I went with my 14-year-old niece and, on arrival at North Greenwich, the home of the Dome, we were both surprised at the actual size of the site

The attraction most people talk about is the Body Zone and, while we both thought that it had its points, it was over-rated and there were far better zones.

The Millennium Show in the centre of the arena was superb if you understood what the three acts were about, with a cast of some 35-45 persons working well over 100 feet up in the air, suspended by wires without any safety nets and terrific stage work all round.

The zone we enjoyed most was the Journey Zone, sponsored by Ford, which includes all aspects of travel from the kayak onwards, followed by the Tesco-sponsored zone and, of course, some of the others interested you or didn't according to your age group.

Having seen all we wanted, my niece and I then went into the Sky Scape and watched the last Blackadder show, which we both enjoyed.

The building itself is superb in its design and construction and it is a great pity that it has suffered the indignities that it has -- mainly, I am convinced, for political reasons.

As for the admission cost, a football fan will happily pay £15 for two hours entertainment as against from 9am to 8pm, which we had.

So, get on that trip and enjoy a couple of days out while it lasts.
