AS a resident of Leyland I was shocked to discover that South Ribble Borough Council has no 'green' cars or vans and only one vehicle that runs on Liquid Petroleum Gas. (Citizen, September 7).

It's just typical and yet another case of the council NOT practising what they preach.

I agree with the Audit Commission if they say that council's should 'lead the way on environmental issues', as stated in your newspaper.

If civic leaders and other white collars at the council are not seen to be 'green' so to speak, how can they expect the council taxpayer to recycle goods or think about the environment when filling up our cars.

Every week I use my council-delivered blue bag to recycle newspapers.

For this scheme I praise South Ribble.

But it would be interesting to find out exactly how many council officials, who live in the borough, do the same.
