PLANS for the overnight closure of Clitheroe Police station to the public sparked protest from Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans.
Police said the closure of public enquiry desk in the evenings would mean one more officer on the beat.
Mr Evans suggested that the role could be filled by civilians or special constables.
