GREAT Harwood shooter Ian Peel was still shell-shocked just hours after winning an Olympic silver medal.

"It will take a bit of sinking in," laughed the 42-year-old from his base in Sydney after clinching the second spot in the Olympic Trap.

"I always knew I had an outside chance of the medal if I was at my best but when it actually happens it's unbelievable.

"I've won European titles but the Olympics is so special. It's only my second Olympics and the first was such a disappointment.

"But it was brilliant just to make the final so to win silver is out of this world."

Peel reached the last six final after hitting 118 of the 125 clay pigeon targets in the preliminary rounds.

He then held his nerve to 'kill' 24 out of 25 in the final -- but defending Olympic champion Michael Diamond, on his home territory and already four shots ahead after the preliminary round, shot the lot to clinch the gold.

And Chorley cyclist Jason Queally continued to be the name on everybody's lips as he added a silver medal to his gold -- the first Brit to bag both medals at an Olympics since middle distance runner Sebastian Coe.

Queally is the toast of the Olympics so far after his gold in the Kilometre Time Trial on Saturday and his silver in the team race, the Olympic Sprint yesterday. Magpies set to make a move for Dailly
