SATURDAY saw Eccleston win the final game of the season at Merseybus. Batting first on a ground were few boundaries would be scored, Merseybus struggled against a very lively and accurate Eccleston bowling attack. Only Hunter and Sorfleet scored double figures before Merseybus were all out for 44. Pick of the Eccleston bowlers were Andy Elliott 4-17, Jimmy Johnson 3-10, Rob Creak 1-15 and John Parry 1-2. They were helped by some excellent fielding with a spectacular catch taken by Richie Appleton.

When Eccleston came to the crease they struggled against a volatile Merseybus attack and soon had batsmen back in the pavilion. Only Michael Manley 20 and French who hit the winning boundary with an aggressive 10 not out saw Eccleston through to victory. Match ball sponsors Emerald Packaging Ltd.
