AFTER councillors assured the public that no cows infected by BSE were buried at the Whinney Hill Tip in Altham, a haulage contractor claimed he had seen headless cattle being lowered into specially dug graves.
Council officials admitted some cows had been buried in "clay coffins" but the heads -- the part thought to contain the BSE agent -- had been taken away to be incinerated.
