POLICE are appealing for help in tracking down a robber who conned his way into the home of a 94-year-old man then forcibly stole a wallet containing £400 in cash.
The victim was watching TV in his home in Whiteside Avenue, Blackbrook on Friday, September 8 when there was a knock at the front door at around 3pm.
He answered it to find a man in his mid-20s who said he had called to fix the windows.
The pensioner let the man in and both went upstairs where the caller pretended to check the windows.
But when they got back downstairs the caller pushed the pensioner against the wall, ripped his trousers and stole his wallet containing the money before running out of the house heading in the direction of nearby O'Sullivan Crescent.
Police are interested in talking to anyone who may have spotted a white van in the area at the time of the robbery.
The offender is described as "not very tall" with sharp features and short hair.
Anyone able to help the police with their inquiries can contact DC Geoff Jerram on 0151 777 6875, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
