YOUNGSTERS in St Helens have been signing up for the fight against domestic violence by taking part in a pilot project set up by St Helens Council.

Children from three primary schools in Sutton -- Sutton Oak, Sutton Manor and Robins Lane -- have been taking part in the scheme, in which Ann Clarke, education and training officer for the council's Domestic Violence Prevention Project, highlighted some of the issues surrounding domestic violence.

Ann's main role is to make sure that people who have been affected by violence, whether adults of children, receive the best help and support from local agencies and a directory of relevant services has now been produced for people's information.

At the end of the project, a poster, featuring useful contact numbers, was designed by eight-year-old Adam Basley. It has now been reproduced and will be displayed in libraries, community centres, hospitals, doctors and other public information points.

Ann can be contacted on (01744) 456563 and further support is also available from St Helens Women's Aid on 01925 220541; the NSPCC on (01744) 614682; and the Police Domestic Violence Unit on (01744) 739939.
