TWO Arnold pupils have added a few more strings to their bows after making the grade in their music exams.

Aparna Ravi and her brother Karthik (pictured), who both live in Poulton, are celebrating the addition of several more certificates to their "collection."

Aparna, 18, has completed an outstanding hat-trick by passing her Grade VIII violin exam with merit, to add to her Grade VIII distinction in singing and her Grade VIII in piano.

Not to be outdone, her brother has just completed his Grade IV violin with merit to add to his collection of singing and piano certificates.

But despite these musical talents you are more likely to see Karthik and Aparna in the operating theatre than at the opera.

Aparna is to go to Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, to study medicine following in the footsteps of her father, who is in the medical profession, although it will be combined with a choral scholarship.

Karthik is also aiming for a career in medicine.
