AM I the only person to have doubts regarding the quality of petrol during the fuel crisis?

My reason for suspicion is, finding a garage with a petrol supply, I patiently queued to take my turn only to find it was 4-star lead replacement petrol that was on offer.

As my car is converted to run on what we all term 3-star I fully expected ignition trouble -- pinking.

Nothing could be further from the truth, for it has been trouble-free.

Is it that I am naive, or could it be I paid five pence a litre more for a lower grade fuel disguised under a fancy name?
