MAYBE people could learn something from the petrol crisis which gripped the country.

I already walk to work rather than drive as I find it only takes 10 minutes longer and there are no parking problems to overcome.

It is also quite refreshing and helps keep you fit while saving money and wear and tear on the car caused by stop-start journeys. I sincerely hope that people who have been forced into walking more will now have considered just how much they use their cars for trivial journeys which could just as easily be accomplished on foot or bike.

I also hope that dog owners who have been forced on to the pavements will take responsibility for the amount of excreta there is to dodge on even the shortest of walks.
