THE decomposed body of a woman found wrapped in a duvet cover at the side of a busy Clitheroe trunk road has been identified using DNA from her parents, an inquest was told.

Mother-of-three Nusrat Begum Ahmed, 27, whose last address was in Brierfield, was discovered in undergrowth at the side of the A59 in August.

Her estranged husband, Tanvir Ahmed, 30, of Villa Road, Oldham, was interviewed in connection with her abduction and was later charged with murder.

He has been remanded in custody with a view to committal to Manchester Crown Court on September 28.

Another man, Matloob Hussain, 44, of the same address, is also remanded in custody, charged with helping to dispose of the body.

Oldham district coroner Barrie Williams was told samples of DNA taken from Mrs Ahmed's parents confirmed that the body found at the side of the road was that of their daughter, who was reported missing on August 11.

Giving evidence of identification, Mr Rennie Saddique, from Burton-on Trent, said his Oldham-born daughter had been educated in Mossley and Droylsden in Greater Manchester and had travelled to Pakistan for an arranged marriage just after her 16th birthday. She returned to live in Bury and later Balfour Street in Oldham, but went back to Pakistan where she lived with her husband and her grandmother. The couple came back to Oldham in 1994.

Mr Saddique said he was aware of difficulties in the marriage and for a time his daughter came to live with him. Four or five weeks before her death, Mrs Ahmed had gone to stay at an address in Brierfield.

The hearing was adjourned indefinitely in the light of the criminal proceedings.
