Marine 1 Lancaster City 1 A RAINY windswept night failed to dampen the City spirits as they fought back to secure a draw at Marine on Tuesday.

Both sides did their best to play football in the atrocious conditions and the deadlock was broken in the 27th minute when John Morgan connected with a cracking corner to head them into the lead.

City's Lee Clitheroe had a shot cleared off the line but Blues keeper Horridge was called upon a couple of times to make good saves.

A double substitution with Barnes and Ward coming on gave City an extra edge and they pushed forward for an equaliser.

After Horridge made yet another good save City sprang a counter attack with Lee Clitheroe playing the ball forward to Kilbane who crossed to Ward for the sub to power a shot into the top of the net.

It was no more than City deserved.

Subs: Horridge, Sparrow, Haddow, Kilbane, Horner, S Clitheroe, Martin, Fowler, Morton (Ward) Welch (Barnes) L Clitheroe.
