THREE people have been arrested following an armed robbery in Fleetwood on September 18.

Police are questioning two men and a woman in connection with a raid at Heald's Day and Nite store on Poulton Road.

An armed response unit blocked off streets on Monday (September 18) night after the robber, who escaped with cash through a back window of the store, was thought to still be in the area.

This is the second armed robbery to hit the store in just over a week.

Two robbers, one holding a gun, grabbed cash, phone cards, scratch cards and cigarettes in last week's raid when staff were confronted by two men wearing balaclavas and gloves. The staff were made to lie on the floor while the men helped themselves to money in the till.

This week's armed robbery took place just as the shop was about to close at 10.20pm.

A man carrying a barrelled weapon ordered the shop assistant to open the safe and then lie on the floor. He escaped through a back window with an undisclosed amount of cash.
