ASDA supermarket will launch their 'Bobby Lobbies', at the store on September 26. The scheme provides opportunity for local people to talk to local police officers in the store at their convenience. The lobbies will last from 3- 4pm and will be held approximately once per month.
The idea has already been operating in other areas of the country where police officers were concerned that they did not see enough of local people to find out the issues and problems that concerned them.
By holding these meetings in the local supermarket the officers hope to get close to people in a place everyone feels comfortable and familiar.
Sergeant David Wilkinson from Morecambe Police Station said: "ASDA forms part of the Heysham policing area and we have formed a great partnership with the store over the last year.
We see this as another opportunity to meet the local community in an informal setting."
Store manager Howard Willis said: "We want to hold Bobby Lobbies in our store to ensure that as many people as possible have the opportunity to meet their local officers and discuss any concerns they have. It's a real service that we hope friends of the store will appreciate.
