WORRIES about the petrol crisis were blown away when Bury's traditional September fair opened in a blaze of colour and noise.
One thing that certainly wasn't in short supply was fun. And pals Leanne Thomas, pictured left, and Jennifer Braithwaite, both of Myrtle Street, Bury, were among the first customers to try out the dodgems, which thankfully didn't require petrol.
Youngsters flocked to The Rock to experience the thrill of hair-raising rides and test their skills on the stalls.
One of the early funseekers was the Mayor of Bury Councillor Bill Johnson who went back to his youth to take a pot shot or two on the rifle range. The funfair will finish on Saturday night (Sept 23).
