TALENTED sisters Emily and Laura Bancroft are celebrating success after seeing their names in print.
The pair from Bolton Road, Bury, both had work published in the glossy children's magazine "Young Writer".
Emily (8) wrote a "tall and spiky" poem describing bustling street scenes in a painting by Lowry. Just like the work of the famous painter, the piece is crammed with detail about all manner of people going about their daily business.
Meanwhile five-year-old Laura scooped first prize in a competition to illustrate a story book for the very young with her colourful drawings of a tortoise.
Their father, Michael Bancroft, said: "They were obviously thrilled, but more so the youngest one. Emily took it in her stride a bit more."
Emily's piece was adapted from a poem she had already written for the opening of the Lowry Centre in Salford.
Now the poem has gone on display at the centre itself and the family took a trip to see it.
