PINT-SIZED Ben Taylor is feeling on top of the world after completing a sponsored hike to raise cash for Bury Hospice.
Five-year-old Ben, of Holly Edge Drive, Prestwich, has collected more than £180 for the charity after scaling almost 3,000ft to the top of Great Gable in the Lake District.
The Park View CP School pupil tackled the mountainous feat with his dad George and godfather Pete Duller, who are keen walkers.
Proud mum Caroline said: "We normally go walking as a family and Ben loved every minute of it. They camped out the night before and he never moaned or whinged once. It was certainly the biggest climb he has done."
The group set off up the peak, chosen because it is the only mountain in the Lakes that has a commemorative plaque at the top, from the village of Honister.
And it took Ben's little legs just six hours to reach the top and make the descent.
George added: "I am a postman so I am used to walking but Ben did really well considering he is only five."
Ben's grandmother, who lives in Cornwall, also took pledges for the event for her local hospice
