A VIDEO made by women in Leigh to promote a health project has been reaping good results.

The WISH young women's health project was awarded grants by the Halifax, Coalfield Challenge and Wigan Council's Youth Arts Challenge to make the video promoting the services on offer.

Young volunteers from Wish - part of the Well Women Centre on Church Street - wrote, filmed and edited the video with the help of Careers Outreach Worker Chris Ritson, Youth Worker Pam Corcoran and Steve Christie, from Wigan and Leigh College's Media Centre.

Leigh volunteer Kathryn Owen, 20, said: "I think the video will make the WISH project more accessible to young women.

"By showing it at schools and colleges young women should feel more confident about visiting or contacting WISH and be aware of the services we provide."

WISH provides a range of services including a drop-in every Wednesday, 4-8pm, where young women up to the age of 25 can phone or call in for a chat about any health concerns they might have.

Free pregnancy tests and condoms are also available.
