BIG Sam Allardyce today turned the heat up for tomorrow's top of the table Division One derby between Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers.

Bolton arrive at Ewood Park on the back of six straight league wins and with a club record of four straight away wins.

So Allardyce has made it clear to his players that the one team that must not be allowed to break that sequence is Graeme Souness's side.

The Bolton boss said: "The place we can't lose our unbeaten away record is Blackburn Rovers -- for me, for the sake of the directors and for the sake of the fans.

"That gives the game a special edge."

Allardyce was in the Bolton side which achieved promotion from the old Division Two in 1978 at Ewood Park.

And he will be keen to maintain Wanderers' eight point lead over their local rivals.

But Allardyce is aware of the importance that the game holds for Rovers. He added: "I watched Blackburn on Tuesday and, having seen them then and previously, they look a real force this year and we'll have our hands full."

Souness will need to check on the fitness of Matt Jansen and Craig Short, who have both missed the last two games, before deciding on his line-up.

But the chance of both players, who trained this morning, of making the squad were good.

Rovers have also put the block on a loan move for Marlon Broomes to Queen's Park Rangers after the transfer bid for Lucien Mettomo fell through.

He returned to France after stringent tests uncovered a medical history -- believed to be a cruciate ligament injury -- which needed further examination.
