HOSPITAL security is being stepped-up to reduce the risk of violence against staff.
Trained security officers have been appointed by Wigan and Leigh Health Services NHS Trust to combat crime at Wigan Infirmary. The service will begin on October 2.
Other precautions already taken include equipping all female staff, and some males, with personal attack alarms.
