THE sound of brass will reverberate on Saturday in Ellenbrook Church, 125 years ago after the village band first struck a note there.
Saturday's celebration concert, as part of Ellenbrook and Boothstown Band 125th anniversary, promises to be pure nostalgia.
Already this year the band, conducted by Brian Peacock, has celebrated with concerts at Boothstown and Atherton, taken part in the Whit marching band contests and headed the Lord Mayor's parade in Manchester.
But returning to original roots is sure to send a shiver down the spines of bandsmen and concert-goers.
The concert starts at 7.30pm.
Any young, budding musician who fancies a go is welcome at rehearsals held Mondays and Thursdays from 8pm at Boothstown Methodist Church.
