A MOTHER and grandmother have issued a warning to parents after a drunken man approached children on Lilford Park.
The women, who did not want to be named for fear of reprisals, said the man had his coat pockets stuffed with whisky bottles and hid behind a hill watching people on the park.
She said: "There were a lot of children there, some without their parents, and this man kept going up to different ones. At one point he approached a couple of boys and they quickly walked away from him and left the park.
"My mother and I were in shock over this, so we wanted to warn other parents - we would hate for anything to happen."
Chief Inspector Alex Woolley said parents should call 999 if they have any suspicions about people in a public place.
"We'd sooner go out and find it's a mistake than have anything serious happen."
