A GRANDMOTHER injured in the King Street bus crash has given heartfelt thanks to first aiders who helped her.
Josie Morris (82) of Imperial Drive, Higher Fold, was a passenger in her son's car when the bus "appeared out of nowhere" and crashed into it, before smashing into the side of the George and Dragon pub.
"I saw this great brown shape coming towards me and put my hands up to my face. Then I felt a massive shock as the bus hit us," said Josie.
Her son, who was driving, got out of the car to see what had happened - not realizing Mrs Morris had suffered bruising and injuries to her eye.
"My daughter-in-law, Joyce, helped by soothing me and keeping me calm until help could come," she told The Journal.
The first aiders - Nick Boardman and Shaun Mayoh - rushed to Mrs Morris's assistance and stayed with her until ambulance crews arrived to take her to Wigan hospital.
"It's not often people are kind to you these days. But those who came to my aid were wonderful, so kind, as was the ambulance crew," she said.
