ON behalf of farmers, hauliers and taxi drivers I would like to thank the people of Bury for their fabulous support during the fuel price demonstration. I would also apologise for any inconvenience.

Tony Blair and his Cabinet should be ashamed of their blatant lies and scare stories. Their spin doctors tried to fool the public and it just shows the contempt in which he holds the British people.

At no time did any protester use threats, intimidation or violence to stop tanker drivers from doing their job. I it was their choice not to cross our lines and we did not stop any fuel that was destined for emergency services, schools or any other needy cause. Indeed, the Assistant Chief Constable of Greater Manchester personally thanked us for our behaviour.

It was puzzling to me why, after Mr Blair had used his emergency powers, perhaps that's where he got the notion of intimidation from, to force the drivers back, that fuel supplies quickly went to Birch services and not the NHS which was supposed to be in crisis.

Mr Blair should use the next 60 days to get back in touch with what's happening in the real world and lower stealth taxes to an acceptable level.
