THE best way to spend some of the £8,670,000 of our money which is being returned to the people of Blackburn and Darwen (LET, October 11) would be to employ some good business efficiency experts in order to reduce the extortionately high rates charged by the Council.
After that, the money should be used to maintain the infrastructure instead of building up massive expense for future generations caused by years of neglect.
The money should not be wasted on so-called "works of art" and useless sculptures as in the past.
DAVID BANKS, Preston Old Road, Feniscowles, Blackburn.
