AMATEUR Rugby League clubs Vine and West Sutton have merged and will now play under the banner of St. Helens Vine West. The move comes as a result of approaches to West Sutton coach Willie Johnson by Vine official Frankie Barrow. West Sutton were members of BARLA's Division One while Vine played in Division Four, and the newly-formed club will continue to field teams in these competitions, while the under-18 team continue for function. In addition it is proposed to re-launch the under-14 squad, who will play on a pitch in Elephant Lane, while a committee comprising delegates from Vine and Sutton will meet at Thatto Heath Labour club on Thursday nights at 7.30pm. Sherdley Park will be the home ground, and further details can be obtained from Frankie Barrow on 818232 or Johnny Fishwick 732741.
