COLNE shoppers will be able to buy all their dairy products straight from the farmer this weekend when the first Pendle farmers' market is launched in the town.

The market will take place on Saturday at Colne outdoor market -- next to Colne Market Hall -- and follows on from the successful first market in Nelson at the beginning of this month.

The market, organised by Pendle Council, will be staged every first Saturday in the month in Nelson and every third Saturday in Colne.

Stalls will sell produce such as cheese, lamb, eggs, yoghurt, ice cream, organic food and sausages. Sellers must be the producer or work in production on the farm and live within the local area.

Sharon Livesey, of the council's estates office, said: "We were delighted with the numbers of people who supported the first Pendle farmers' markets in Nelson and we hope that the people of Colne will support the market this weekend. We hope it will add a little something extra to people's regular shopping in Colne."

Local producers wanting to take part in the market should call Sharon on 01282 661980 or Philip Barratt on 01282 661676.
