POOL players across the Ribble Valley are asked to line up their top shots to raise money during Breast Cancer Awareness month.

A "Lasses versus Lads" tournament arranged for the end of the month has been designed to give a good evening's entertainment at the same time as boosting funds for a breast cancer centre for Clitheroe.

Organiser Anna Dylan said: "We are pushing for lottery money to help finance the centre and the more we can prove we can raise cash ourselves, the more likely we are to be successful in our lottery application.

"This event will be held at the conclusion of a month-long breast cancer awareness programme which has been held across Europe.

"We are hoping it will be a fun night for everybody there but with a serious fund-raising angle."

The pool tournament will be held at The Buck Inn, Grindleton on October 27 at 7.45pm and everyone is welcome to play or watch.

There will also be a raffle with prizes donated by local firms Trutex and Nick Pollard Computer Consultants and all proceeds will be given to the Specialist Breast Unit Trust.
