THE aim of the new Quality Bus Route in Hyndburn, of providing a quicker and better service is being stymied, we are told, by the layout of a single road junction in Accrington town centre that causes buses to be queued for a long time while other traffic has right of way.
Just one junction in the whole of Hyndburn chokes the traffic flow? Really?
Things must be looking up. For such was the overkill of humps, chicanes, built-out kerbs yonder that you could be forgiven for thinking that permanent gridlock was the actual plan throughout the borough.
And, indeed, does not the beef accompanying the grouse over blocked-in buses -- about cars in Oswaldtwistle being held up by stationary buses because the planners have extended the pavements at the new quality bus stops into the road instead of creating lay-bys at the halts -- show that nothing has really changed?
