Clitheroe 4 Atherton LR 1
CLITHEROE booked a place in the second round of the North West Counties League Floodlit Trophy with a comprehensive win last night.
And their reward is a short trip to local rivals Darwen.
All the goals came in the first half with Clitheroe quickly establishing a two goal advantage thanks to Chris Whittingham and Lee Cryer.
Atherton hit back on the quarter hour through Aaron Anderton but a penalty from Barry Hart following a hand ball restored Clitheroe's two goal advantage.
Former Darwen player Lee Slater completed the scoring five minutes from half time, the second half deteriorating with the weather.
Meanwhile Clitheroe have swooped to sign former Bamber Bridge midfield star Neil Reynolds from Kendal Town.
